Hihi, have you heard of glass noodles? They are also called bean threads or mung bean noodles - and they are soooo versatile! Because they have a very mild taste, they go perfectly with spicy dishes and absorb every flavor perfectly! And here's the best part: when you deep-fry them, they turn into a totally crispy, fluffy garnish - a real treat for the eyes and the taste buds!
Awww, these glass noodles are just a dream - light, versatile and sooo pretty and translucent! They are also known as bean threads or mung bean noodles and are made from fine pea starch and 30% mung bean starch - that sounds super Asian, doesn't it?
Preparing them is really easy: just put the noodles in hot water (approx. 90 °C) for 3-5 minutes, drain them - and you're ready to go! Whether in salads, soups or as the main ingredient in your pasta pan - they soak up any sauce and have a super-pleasant texture! Store them dry and you'll always have them to hand for spontaneous Asian adventures!
And here's my secret tip: if you deep-fry them very briefly, they puff up really nicely - this makes a super cool, crispy garnish for bowls, salads or soups!
