Mhh~ sooo sticky, sooo delicious! In Thai cuisine, sticky rice is a must - whether as a sweet dessert or as a staple food in the north & northeast of Thailand and in Laos! And psst... a recipe suggestion is also waiting for you!
Glutinous rice - the starch explosion among rice varieties! This special type of rice is characterized by its extremely high starch content, which causes the grains to stick together completely during cooking. Even more intense than classic round grain rice - perfect for anyone who wants something really traditional! You can recognize it uncooked by its matt white, completely opaque grains - a clear sign of maximum stickiness.
In Thai cuisine, sticky rice is not only a staple food in northern Thailand and Laos, but also the basis for popular desserts. And so that you can experience the taste for yourself, here is a powerful recipe that provides sweet energy:
Recipe for a classic sticky rice dessert:
Ingredients:
4 cups of sticky rice 200-250 g brown sugar or palm sugar 1½ cans (approx. 600 ml) of coconut milk
