Fighters, shirataki are your weapon for low-carb cooking! Almost no calories, but full flexibility - ideal for sukiyaki, fried noodles or light dishes. Clear on target, strong in action. If you want discipline, use shirataki!
Oooh, shirataki noodles are soooo special - and great for anyone who wants to eat consciously! They come from Japan and are not made from brandy (even if the name suggests that, hihi!), but from konjac root - also known as devil's tongue or in Austria as tear tree! Sounds mystical, doesn't it?
Incidentally, the name "shirataki" means "waterfall" in Japanese - totally fitting, as the noodles are transparent, shiny and have a slightly jelly-like consistency. They resemble glass noodles, but contain almost no calories or carbohydrates - sooo ideal for low-carb fans!
Shirataki noodles are made from konjac flour, water and calcium hydroxide - this means they retain their shape, are firm to the bite and full of fiber! Glucomannan is the magic word - a water-soluble fiber that fills you up without weighing you down!
You can use them in so many different ways: for sukiyaki (Japanese hot pot), as soup noodles, fried in a wok or as a substitute for classic glass noodles! Healthy, light, quick to prepare - shirataki is simply a little kitchen miracle!
